Doug Savant is running for a seat on SAG's board.

Marc Cherry has fond memories of working with Estelle Getty, who just passed away.

Congratulations to Ricardo Chavira and director Jay Torres for their ALMA Award nominations. Eva Longoria Parker hosts the show, which airs Friday, September 12.

I've seen a number of articles where people think it's scandalous that Eva herself wasn't nominated, so let me say this: she's an executive producer of the awards show, and as such plays a role in things like, say, who gets nominated. She took herself out of running as it would be a conflict of interest.

Ricardo Chavira and Kathryn Joosten will both guest star in the 100th episode of Monk, which airs September 5.

I'm not going to link to any of the many, many articles that treated Marc Cherry's supposed revelation that he expects the show ends after seven seasons. Instead, I'm linking to the original USA Today article where he first revealed this info. It's from October 2004: yes, the month the show premiered!

I'm also not linking to any of the numerous articles that suggest DH is about to end. Three more seasons is a lot more of DH! The tornado from this past season would roughly be the show's halfway point. So, yes, we're probably in the show's second half, but the show's not ending anytime soon.

Here's more evidence that Marc Cherry's a funny, funny guy.

Marc Cherry seems very amusing.

Congratulations to costume designer Cate Adair; costume supervisors Joyce Unruh Goodwin and Karo Vartanian; Polly Bergen (Lynette's mom); Kathryn Joosten (Mrs. McCluskey); Department Head Hairstylist Gabor Heiligenberg; and additional hairstylists Dena Green, James Dunham, and Maria Fernandez DiSarro for their Emmy nominations.

I'm especially rooting for Polly Bergen, who was last nominated 19 years ago, and who won her only Emmy to date fifty (!) years ago. (Things have changed a lot in fifty years; her Emmy-award winning performance was done live!)

Yes, I think it's unfortunate that the DH women and the show itself were shut out of Emmy nominations. But I think it's worth remembering that this is one of the few shows in the comedy category that can be considered a true hit; the DH season finale was pretty much seen by as many viewers as the season finales of The Office and Ugly Betty combined!  In the end, ratings are what matters most to ABC.

USA Today previews some of the changes for season 5; most of them should be familiar to people who've been reading our spoiler page.

''We'll make Sunday and 'Desperate Housewives' a priority for fall - that wouldn't be the case if we had a lot of new shows,'' says ABC president Stephen McPherson. Yay!

The Scavo kids have been recast! I'm told the twins are 20 so let's cross our fingers that they reasonably look like teenagers.

In Hong Kong, Desperate Housewives will be available for free at TVB.com.
