Foreign viewers can see spoilers for the first part of series 4 here.

This scene from the season finale features Gabrielle in bed with someone other than Carlos!

The three previous season finales have featured a woman being attacked with a hockey stick; a man run down with a car; and a woman apparently attempting suicide. Two of the women have been held at gunpoint in finales. Two men have been murdered, another was accidentally killed, and a fourth was killed in a police shooting. One finale featured a couple getting a divorce; another had two couples tie the knot. Twice, affairs have been revealed; last season’s finale featured the beginning of an affair. The prior season finales have featured revelations concerning cancer, a scheme involving birth control, a secret love child, and a fake pregnancy. And, oh yes, the finales have revealed all the juicy secrets concerning the deaths of Mary Alice Young, Deirdre Taylor, and Melanie Foster. So don't you dare miss a minute of this Sunday's season finale!

Season 4 spoilers!

Episode 4-16 "The Gun Song"  May 18  First hour of a TWO HOUR season finale

Written by Bob Daily and Matt Berry; directed by Bethany Rooney

Bree and Katherine visit a shooting range together. Katherine has good motivation for wanting to become a good shot. Adam (Nathan Fillion) appears in the episode, as does Wayne (Gary Cole).

Someone from child's services stops by to accuse Lynette of having hit Kayla. Lynette denies the charges, but the woman from children's services has evidence. Later, Lynette's arrested for abuse.  Kayla's being sent off to live with her mother's parents. Mrs. McCluskey (Kathryn Joosten) appears in the episode.

Susan's upset that her son has been named Maynard. Susan's friends learn of the baby's name and are similarly shocked. When Susan can't get a woman at the hospital records department to help her, she turns to get help from a woman named Griselda.  Susan manages to get the baby's name changed through deception.

Gabrielle's with an electronics technician who's bugging the house to catch drug dealer Ellie (Justine Bateman).  Thanks to her friendship with Ellie, Gabrielle's more sympathetic to her than the technician is. When Ellie's about to catch what's happening, Gabrielle hides the truth by kissing the man. Ellie's surprised when Gaby claims she's having an affair with the man.

Orson arrives at the Scavos' restaurant to find Bree dining with a Reverend. (No, it's not her usual reverend!)  Bree uses this opportunity to make Orson jealous. Later, at church, the Reverend leads a prayer that is quite obviously about Bree's apparently wicked ways.  Orson and the Reverend get into a huge fight!

Bob and Lee appear in the episode.

Episode 4-17  "Free"  May 18   Second hour of the TWO HOUR season finale

Written by Jeff Greenstein; directed by David Grossman

Residents of Wisteria Lane face deadly threats.

Susan realizes she's about to lose someone she loves.

All of Katherine's secrets are revealed! In one pivotal flashback, a police officer encourages Katherine to flee with young Dylan, as cop Wayne will never be punished for abusing her. Back in the present, Wayne attacks Adam, who escapes, visibly injured, and commits a carjacking. Wayne has a gun.

Bob and Lee are having a commitment ceremony; it will be a lighter storyline compared to some of the darker events taking place in the season finale. Look for a car to crash into the outside event.

Bree and Katherine are Bob and Lee's caterers for their big day. Bree wants to make the women her employees for the day. Bree's on the side of a road with an ice sculpture in a stroller.

Gabrielle and Ellie get into a fight in which Roxy the dog also plays a role. Gabrielle and Carlos come across a lot of cash.

Someone is going to die!

The season concludes with a cliffhanger that will change the entire series, as time on Wisteria Lane FLASHES FORWARD five years. But the events of the "present" aren't standalone stories; what happens to the women in the episode influences where they are five years from now, so the end of arcs involving (among other things) Lynette vs. Kayla, Gabrielle and Ellie, and Susan's loss will all impact the "future." Prepare yourselves now, because everything on Wisteria Lane is about to change  . . .

A woman isn't quite ready to let her child go to kindergarten; her husband does his best to convince her to come away from the school. By the way, it appears likely that the wife is Susan! The role will be played by Gale Harold. A few sources have informed that he's "possibly recurring next season" in the same way that Orson was 2 years ago: the circumstances of the season finale guarantee he'll be back, but they don't want to give that away just now.

In the future, Gabrielle has twin girls! (They're around 5 when we meet them.)

Rumors

One of the husbands spends five years in prison. Is it Orson, who Bree has said she wants in prison? Is it Carlos, who brought up his probation? Is it Mike, a drug addict who's currently living a few houses away from a drug dealer?

Season 5 spoilers

As revealed in the spoilers for the season finale, next season takes us FIVE years into the future and stays there. Lynette's kids will be either written out or recast, while Mrs. McCluskey's hard of hearing. Bree's well on her way to becoming the next Martha Stewart. Gabrielle's the mother of twin girls. Carlos remains blind. Katherine is still living on Wisteria Lane. Edie returns to Wisteria Lane, having also gone through significant change as well. And Susan's married to a man who's not Mike.

The show has been picked up for next season.  There will be 24 episodes!
